Nestled between the Atacama Desert in the north and the fjords of Patagonia in the south lies one of Chile’s most diverse and least-discovered regions: Maule. Few places offer such an extraordinary variety of landscapes within such a short distance. Snow-capped Andean peaks, Mediterranean wine valleys, wild Pacific coastlines, volcanoes, lagoons, waterfalls, and traditional rural villages combine to create an unforgettable travel experience.

Thanks to its pleasant Mediterranean climate, Maule can be visited comfortably during most of the year. Unlike many other destinations in Chile, the region is easily accessible from Santiago by train, bus, or private transfer, eliminating the need for domestic flights.

For travelers seeking the authentic side of Chile beyond the usual tourist routes, Maule offers a unique combination of nature, culture, gastronomy, and genuine hospitality.

  • 1. Tag Wine, Culture & Nature
Upon arrival in Talca, we will welcome you and transfer you to Lodge Casa Chueca, a peaceful natural retreat on the outskirts of the city. During a guided walk through the property, you will discover the botanical garden, featuring numerous native plant species, the tropical greenhouse, and the CIMA Museum, which provides fascinating insights into the natural and cultural heritage of the Maule Region. In the afternoon, we visit one of the region’s traditional wineries. The Maule Valley is one of Chile’s oldest wine-producing regions and is renowned for its authentic wine culture and distinctive wines. The day concludes with a shared dinner featuring regional specialties, with vegetarian options available.
  • 2. Tag Pacific Coast, Sand Dunes & Wildlife
Today we explore the spectacular Pacific coastline of the Maule Region. Along the coast, we observe impressive seabird colonies, including pelicans, cormorants, and boobies, as well as sea lions resting on offshore rock formations. We then visit the famous Putú Dunes, one of the largest dune systems in Chile. Those who wish can enjoy a walk through this remarkable landscape, where ocean, wind, and sand create a unique natural environment. Optional arrival experience: Guests may choose to travel on the historic Talca–Constitución Railway, the last operating narrow-gauge railway in Chile. Your guide will meet you at Constitución station and continue the coastal excursion from there. In the evening, we return to Lodge Casa Chueca.
  • 3. Tag Andes, Volcanoes & Condors
Today’s journey takes us deep into the Andes near the Argentine border. A spectacular mountain landscape unfolds before us, featuring volcanoes, lava fields, deep valleys, and vast high-altitude plains. We visit impressive waterfalls and the turquoise waters of Laguna del Maule, one of the most beautiful high-mountain lakes in Chile. Throughout the day, breathtaking viewpoints provide panoramic vistas of the Andes. With a bit of luck, we may spot the majestic Andean Condor soaring above the valleys. Numerous stops along the route offer excellent opportunities for photography and nature observation. In the late afternoon, we return to Lodge Casa Chueca. Those interested may end the day with a traditional Chilean barbecue in the lodge garden. Vegetarian alternatives are, of course, available.
  • 4. Tag Departure
After a leisurely breakfast surrounded by the peaceful atmosphere of Casa Chueca, you will have time to enjoy the property one last time before departure. We then transfer you to the train or bus station in Talca, from where you may continue your journey through Chile independently. You will leave with lasting memories of a region that many travelers describe as one of Chile’s most authentic and undiscovered destinations.

The tour can be arranged on request at any time between October and the end of May. As all departures are privately operated and individually organized, we kindly recommend booking well in advance to ensure availability and allow sufficient time for planning and preparation.

The excursions offer an excellent combination of nature, culture, and local experiences. As this is a private tour, the itinerary can be customized to suit your individual interests and preferences. In particular, hiking activities can be adapted to your fitness level, experience, and desired degree of difficulty, ensuring a comfortable and enjoyable experience for every traveler.
