Marmolejo & Aconcagua

The ascent of the MountAconcagua with its very considerable altitude of 6959 m requires careful planning and well-prepared advance acclimatization. As the highest mountain in South America, the Aconcagua is part of the famous “7 Summits” group and therefore is a popular climb. Even more beautiful and much less known is Mount Marmolejo close to Santiago, which is the southernmost 6000 m mountain in the world (6108 m).This climb is an excellent “warm up” and preparation for the altitude of the Aconcagua.Technically MountMarmolejo is about as easy as its grand neighbour; you will need to be in very good physical shape and used to using crampons and an ice-axe.
