Museum La Chakana

Museum La Chakana

Project start: März 2008

Sponsors: Wikinger Reisen

Description: In many South American countries traditions get lost while the society is modernizing and progressing. The youth of traditional living communities, like indigenous people or shepherds, leave their original home and settle in suburbs of cities. In most cases that means losing contact to their community and additionally not being able to establish contact to the modern community of the city. Leftovers are: left villages, unemployed youth and lost traditions. To counter this problem, the foundation TrekkingChile, together with Wikinger Reisen, is building a “museum-village” in 3,500 m height, just outside Putre.

Fair Chile

Sponsors: foundation Trekkingchile

Description: 1000 km by air plane, 2300 km by car or 5600 km gone by train release approx 200 kg of carbon dioxide into the atmosphere – pro person. This greenhouse gas is one of the causes of climatic change. Although these changes have always existed, it has not been happening that fast since two million years. The effects on our planet are threatening and we as responsible people are the only ones who can change something.
The project “FairChile” of the TrekkingChile foundation will surely not be able to stop global tendencies but we can contribute to an improvement of our environment. We need your support.
