The foundation “Trekkingchile” dealed mostly with environmental projects and eco-tourism. That changed promptly when the earth shake in the morning of the 27th February 2010. The actual situation force us to attend relief projects in favor for the victims of the earthquake. Our environmental budget was rededicated. This decision is supported by our foundation directors and the dispensers are informed about that.
We have to admit that we are no experts in that field. But we can, together with the regional NGO CODEFF, observe the relief projects and guarantee the use of the donations.
27.2. At 3.34 o, clock local time ( 07.34 MEZ) the earthquake with an initial magnitude of 8,8 hit central Chile.

1.3. Start of the coordination of the first relief projects. The first donations arrive without request.
3.3. First food transport by Pick-Up to the coast of the Maule region, an area which was badly hit by the Tsunami. In the night there was the first meeting with environmental foundation CODEFF, where further projects were discussed.
4.3 We help to find to missing British tourists: Kirsty Duff 25 years and David Sandercock.
4.3 Coordination of a Scottish rescue team managed by Catherine MacDonald and foundation director Hernan Blanco.
4.3 4 Swiss engineers arrive at our foundation office. During the next 8 days they will write a survey report of Talca. This is financed by Switzerland.
5.3 We buy goods for 2000 US$. The products were collocated by the needs of the affected people. Mostly comestibles, flour, hygienically products and medicine. In the nights everything was packed in separate bags and boxes and loaded on 2 Pick-up cars, to leave the next morning.
5.3 Financial support of 500000Ch$ for the purchase of planks, roof and colour for the family Moore, Altos del Lircay.
6.3 At 10 o’clock vehicles full of food and other necessary things leave for Putu, a small village near the coast. There we will meet with Pablo del Rio, who helps us to allocate everything to the local people.

6.3 Financial support of 180.000 Ch$ for the family Bernardo Saavedra Munoz for water and electricity connection for his house in St. Corina.
7.3. At 4.0 pm we are leaving with food and swaddling bands to the village of Pencahue and Curepto. We bought more products for USD 200,
8.3. We delivered cloth and blankets in Talca. At 3 pm we are organizing a meeting with the local NGO CODEFF in order to planify next steps. Most peaople are affected by broken roofs. We have to get big nylon to protect the rest of their houses and their belongings.
9.3. Evaluation of demage in Talca, sector Altos de Lircay
Between 9:00 am to 13:00 pm we visited 12 families in the outskirts of Talca. We checked their houses of demages together with the president of the neighbourghood association, one master builder and staff from the foundation. Six families have to leave their houses because of danger of structural collapse. The other six families are able the improve their buildings. Now we have to finance construction material, which is hard to find. Affeceted families are:

9.3. Delivering nylon foil with a length of 10 m and a wide of 4 m to 50 families in Curepto.
10.3. Delivering of cloth, mainly for kids in Talca and surounding. We got two pick ups full with cloth.
10.3. We bought three shelters. Each is 3 m wide and 6 m long. We still have to buy 3 houses more. We spend USD 1500,-.
10.3 During the day we got all building material we ordered in the last days. Tomorrow we are able to start to deliver everything to 6 families.
10.3. Delivering of baby diapers in the outskirts of Talca. Kids got a ice cream for free.
10.3. The companie Vivest www.suedamerika-immobilien.net has donated 2.200.000 CLP / 3.200 EUR in order to buy over 6 tons of building material.
11.3. We are starting our program "Education for earthquake victims". Two teachers are giving lessons for 15 children. During the break they get milk and granola.
12.3. We got three mediaguas (emergency cabins). Monday we can start to deliver it to the affected families.
12.3. Reunion of the directors of the foundation. Together we talked about next steps to do and urgencies.
13.3. Directors are visiting by earthquake affected regions and our proyects.
16.3. Buing tools for constructions: 10 security helmets, 6 hammers, 2 electric saws, 2 tool boxes. Total costs $ 170 000,- chil.
16.3. Meeting with the president of the neighbourghood association and the environmental NGO Codeff in order to plan the start of constructions.
All benefits of the foundation and their employees are honorary. There are no salaries or administration costs.
