La Casa Chueca

You will find our familiar guesthouse Casa Chueca (Crooked house) at the core of Central Chile, just outside of Talca, 250 km south of Santiago. We offer accommodation in different categories, swimming pool, bar, gym, information center, organized excursions, vegetarian food and grain coffee in the peaceful countryside of Lircay River.

History & Philosophy

After having travelled for many years, we have decided to settle down in Chile, working as a tour operator for foreign groups. During several years in Chile we have done a lot of hiking, canoeing, mountainbiking and mountaineering - then we chose Chile's Maule region to live. Here we find a Californian climate with a lot of sunshine, beautiful nature and totally unknown landscapes - all ideal circunstances to live and for tourism.
Admiring the Chilean colonial house constructions, we built our Casa Chueca out of adobe bricks. We felt more and more in love with the country and our piece of land. With the help of some friends with a lot of experience in travelling, outdoor sport, restaurant service and hotelling we could finally realize our dream: We started to run an international guesthouse, not a five star hotel, but a cosy place full of nice details.

What we offer

For the summer heat we have a refreshing swimming pool with a beautiful view of the river. To enjoy a tropical touch, we planted many banana and palm trees. Our place is full of nice little details: e.g. hammocks, international book exchange or a telescope to watch the stars. To maintain the physical condition we have a gym. Our kitchen is mainly vegetarian, but on weekends or on demand we cannot resist a barbecue at the camp fire either. Our breakfast consists of muesli, real grain coffee, fruits and a lot more. Bikers can use our workshop to repair their bikes. To plan your further journey, we offer maps, books, color slide presentations and our knowledge of many years travelling through Chile.
You are also welcome to join us on different excursions with small groups from one day to three weeks in Chile, Peru, Bolivia, Argentina and Brazil. We are also happy to give you information for tours on your own. And if you still need some help with your Spanish, teacher Alex is waiting for you!
